Optimizing Administration and Production while Creating a Common Identity

Client Challenge

A subsidiary of a world market leader, a company specialized in mechanical engineering, had merged its activities from two former locations into a single site as part of a reorganization process. Our client was the managing director of the company, and under his leadership a challenging reorganization project was to make a significant contribution to the successful future of the company.

Mandat Intervention

We assumed responsibility for supervising three of six sub-projects of the overall project. These sub-projects were mainly concerned with process reorganization. With our client, we precisely planned these sub-projects. The remaining three sub-projects were handled internally.

In cooperation with our client we appointed the project team and committed them to following a mandatory procedure.

To increase project efficiency, we made sure that the three sub-projects that we supervised as well as the other three sub-projects were all interconnected and that it was always possible to report to the client.

Because the employees had come from the two former locations, one of our core tasks was to involve the employees in the work and to use the project as a vehicle for creating a common employee identity. We had to do away with the notion that there were “winners” and “losers”.

We analyzed the relevant processes, identified potentials, defined realistic target processes and drew up a workable plan of action. We ensured the execution of this plan in regular reviews.

We carefully documented both the progress and the results of the project in order to provide the company with a basis for future projects.

In the context of a calibration process, we ensured that the new process was also sustainably rooted in the day-to-day business for its effect to gain traction.

Administrative processes have been streamlined.

The production processes we supervised have been optimized to reflect the new constellation at the single location.
